Juan Chawuk's work is currently showing at the Mattie Rhodes Art Gallery, 919 W. 17th St., through April 20. Heather Lustfeldt gives us a little history on the man and how his creations reflect his love of life on earth and beyond.
Chawuk’s prolific practice as a painter, muralist, sculptor, photographer and graphic artist spans more than 20 years. Over the past two years, he has had solo exhibitions in Mexico City, at Rutgers University, Latino Arts in Milwaukee, Arizona Latino Arts Center and Prospectus Gallery in Chicago. He has also conducted arts workshops in Italy and Colombia. Chawuk recently completed a mural at the Eric Solorio Academy in Chicago. Later this spring, he plans to return to Kansas City to work with the Guadalupe Center’s Alta Vista High School to complete a mural with studentssource: KC
