J-LO Dropped from Sony Music, May Land at Island Def Jam...

Apparently Singer/Actress and former Diddy Squeeze Jennifer Lopes -aka- J-LO has been dropped from the mighty Sony Music Entertainment. However in typical save face fashion, the singer's camp is spinning it like she was the one who left. But we all know she was dropped.  Why? Because J-LO hasn't had a hit in years in music and in film. So Sony dropping her is a no brainer. They aren't gaining or losing anything from showing her the door. Deadline.com has reported that Lopes is in talks with Island Def Jam CEO L.A Reid about joining the label, a risky move for Reid especially with a new CEO taking control of parent company Universal Music Group. J-LO joining Def Jam may also create some diva bickering being that Mariah Carey has been the sole diva at the label.
"I am making this statement to put an end to any confusion in regards to my next album, titled 'Love.' I have belonged to the Sony family since the beginning of my career as a singer and together we've had great success. I have fulfilled my contractual responsibilities with Sony/Epic up to this point, and we have both reached friendly terms about my departure from the label. I'm also happy to say that we've found a new home for my album, 'Love,' and that it is slated for release in the summer of 2010."
