8 Months In Jail Gave Lil Wayne The Energy He Needed to Record "Tha Carter IV" According to His Dad

When some people go to jail they spend some of their time lifting weights and reading among other things. When Lil Wayne was in jail, he slept like a baby building up the energy he needed to come out and record his new album Tha Carter IV", according to his dad and Cash Money Records Co-Chieftain Bryan "Birdman" Williams.

"I think the rest gave him another energy, and he's pouring it all out through his music," Williams told Billboard.com.

"There's a new energy... just a different energy. He can still rap his ass off, but he took his raps to another level. To me, he went back to that traditional raw Cash Money music, just raw beats, 808s popping off and Wayne rapping, hard. It really sounds great to me."
