Irving Domingo Lorenzo, Jr -aka- Irv Gotti has been MIA for some time now. He was once a force to be reckoned with in hip hop. He brought DMX and other hit makers to the Def Jam label and then left to run his own company Murder Inc. Over the years he gave us more hit makers like Ja Rule, Ashanti and Lloyd. After taking heat for his label's name and image, Lorenzo rebranded the company as simply "The Inc". However, with the re-branding came the demise of the once mighty operation. The next time he was seen was on a reality TV show which gave viewers a look into his personal family life. Viewers also got to see his struggles in the business. Well after taking a break from it all, the man simply known as Irv is said to be taking another shot at running a new label this time under the roof of Warner Music Group.
The ex-Murder Inc. boss had a meeting with former Def Jam honcho Kevin Liles at the Lambs Club, and then left to meet with Atlantic president Michael Kyser. A restaurant spy said, “They looked like they were plotting to take over the world.” Gotti recently talked about Def Jam with MTV’s RapFix Live, saying, “Even though I’m the right man for the job ... do something, put Kevin Liles back in there.” -NYP
