Japan's Embrace of the Hip Hip Art Form and Fashion

By Art + Times:
There is no doubt today that hip hop is not only an industry, but its also international. Though there are some countries that have yet to get a taste of this Bronx New York born art form, they are out numbered by the rest of the world that has. Japan is one of many countries that slowly fell in love with Hip Hop. Their youth embraced it instantly, taking to the fashion and way of life.
Ironically sufficient, Hip Hop didn’t explode onto towards the Japanese culture, although the interest was present. It was met with excellent critism and controversy and for this reason it was slow to gain commercial achievement. The good results of Hip Hop in Japan was reasonably exclusive to the street youth who hung out listening to Hip Hop on their boom boxes dressed in Hip Hop attire. There was however no stopping the youth who were now totally free falling into the hip hop fashion direction. The 90s saw several Japanese hip hop artists make it massive on a national and some even on an international level. This acted as a massive push towards the already growing fashion craze.
