The stealth release of "Beyonce" continues to break industry records and shake up the cookie cutter release process record labels have held on to for decades. Not only is "Beyonce" almost at the 1 million downloads mark, but it is iTunes fastest selling album ever! However, not everyone is excited about the physical release of the album this friday. Super store Target is refusing to carry the physical CD because it says the digital release will hurt physical sales and so it is passing on it.
Here is what Target's mouthpiece Erica Julkowski said:
"At Target we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections".
