That sum is just $80 million short of Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs' total networth. Dre's massive income has to do mostly with his take from the sale of his Beats By Dre brand to Apple. His earnings is more than the 24 names behind him on the Hip Hop Cash Kings List combined.

An Apple Beats Deal Means a New CEO For Interscope Records

The tech industry and Wall Street are buzzing about Apple Inc's plans to spend $3.2 billion to acquire 3 year old Beats Electronics potentially making Dr. Dre Hip Hop's first billionaire and bringing on Beats CEO Jimmy Iovine. Iovine who is is mostly known for his roll as CEO of Interscope Records where he groomed artists like 50 cent, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Lady Gaga and others will step down from his roll at the label as he is expected to take on a creative roll at Apple. With Jimmy Iovine gone from Interscope that leaves one man in charge of one of the biggest record labels on the planet and his name is John Janick. 36 yr old Janick joined the company as President/COO back in 2012 after major success running his own label Fueled by Ramen and serving as co-president of Elektra Records. Janick's expected elevation to CEO of Interscope would be the fastest rise to the top of a major label ever and would put him in command of a vast artist roster that has produced nothing but hits over the past decade.

Janick, who relocated to California to work as Iovine’s top lieutenant, said at the time of his hiring that, “I’ve been entrusted to help build this company for the future. It’s fantastic to be joining a company that has been built on such exciting artists and music; that’s something I intend on continuing.” 

Now, it appears as though he will officially get his chance — and his label, not to mention the music industry writ large, will finally have in Iovine an ally inside Apple, whose music operations it appears as if he will soon be running.

Jennifer Lopez Wins Bid For Fuse TV Beating out Ex, Sean "Puffy" Combs

The heated bidding war (if you want to call it that) between ex flames Jennifer Lopez and Sean "Puffy" Combs has ended as Lopez's Nuovo TV officially enters final talks with the MSG owned music network. Looks like Mr. Combs didn't want it bad enough.

NuvoTV, backed by Jennifer Lopez, has reached an agreement to buy Fuse TV from Madison Square Garden Co., the companies announced today. Bloomberg News reported yesterday that a deal had been reached. The pop star and entrepreneur, known as J-Lo by fans, outbid hip-hop mogul Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, offering $226 million in cash and a 15 percent equity stake in the combined Fuse and NuvoTV, an English-language channel marketed to Latinos.

NuvoTV will use Fuse to expand its audience. Even with Lopez’s star power, the channel can more easily gain eyeballs by acquiring another network than by trying to secure its own deals with pay-TV operators. Los Angeles-based NuvoTV reaches more than 32 million households, less than half of Fuse TV’s 73 million. Time Warner Cable Inc. and DirecTV (DTV) have been dropping low-rated channels to focus on the most popular ones.

Xscape is the name of the new album from the late king of pop Michael Jackson. Its a joint effort between Sony's Epic Records and the estate of Michael Jackson and will feature new music recorded before his death.

The new album will feature eight brand new recordings. A Deluxe Edition of XSCAPE will include a selection of the recordings in their original form. Both the standard and Deluxe Edition’s are available April 1st for pre-order on iTunes and elsewhere. The title of this album honors Michael’s album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project.
