Def Jam still kicking it at 25, thats pretty young in human years

When you think of Def Jam, you automatically think of hip hop and artists like LL. Cool J, Public Enemy, EPMD, JAY Z and many others. Well the label founded in a dorm room by Rick Ruben who later on brought on Russell Simmons, is now 25 and still kicking. However we didn't expect it to be doing anything but kicking right now because come on, 25 yrs old is pretty young right? For it's 25th, Def Jam got all the deserved mentions from XXL Magazine tribute to a CNN.com feature complete with a snazzy slide show of the label's history, Def Jam has truly changed the music business and is truly the Motown of Hip Hop.

Def Jam meant to the music industry as much as Stax, Atlantic and Motown meant to their respective music," said rapper Chuck D, whose group Public Enemy is one of the most famous to appear on the label. "It started from the same humble beginnings that all of those other companies started, very small, but very much passionate about the music."
