We've all heard of actors turned rappers, singers turned rappers, comedians turned rappers, teachers turned rappers, producers turned rappers etc. But we've never heard of chefs turning to the rap game, and no Raekwon The Chef doesn't count. We are talking about a real life chef turned rapper who raps about food. Meet Queens New York native Action Bronson who sounds like Wutang's Ghostface Killa, released his debut album "Dr. Lecter" earlier this year to surprisingly positive reviews. The follow up titled "Well Done" was released just in time for Thanksgiving on November 22. He kinda reminds us of actor Kevin James.
Action Bronson is still under the radar enough that hipsters feel comfortable admitting that they listen to his music. There is a strong chance Bronson can hit the mainstream, though. Pitchfork Media, the most picky of music sites, gave Dr. Lecter a solid rating of 8.1 out of 10 -- something they rarely do. Hip-hop also has a long history of heavy rappers blowing up the charts: Heavy D , Buff Love (of the Fat Boys), Notorious B.I.G., Big Pun, and Fat Joe. With Fat Joe -- the only one of the aforementioned still alive -- having lost weight, the crown is there for the taking. Here "Blue Chips"
