Russell Simmons is a launch king. He's launched many companies over the years since he left Def Jam. Some were hits and many were misses. His last venture into the music world was the much hyped Russell Simmons Music Group which was announced via a press conference with then Island Def Jam CEO L.A Reid and then Def Jam President Shawn "Jay Z" Carter". However the label never really got off the ground and quietly died. Russell Simmons is back at it again this time with Loud Records founder Steve Rifkind and director Brian Robbins as partners. The trio is launching a new record label/management company called All Def Music and ADD Management.
The official launch of All Def Music is a concerted push behind the YouTube network (and underlying model of) All Def Digital that Simmons launched last year through his company Rush Digital Media. As well, a partnership between Simmons and Robbins on the venture, via Rush and Robbins' AwesomenessTV startup, was announced earlier this year. The pair had also collaborated on hip-hop documentary "The Show" in the mid-'90s.source: BB
