University of Missouri football star Michael Sam who is projected to be drafted into the NFL came out to the rest of the world as proud gay man. He first shared the news with his team mates who were mostly supportive of him. This after another college football star Conner Mertens came out as bi-sexual followed by his boyfriend college baseball player Chandler Whitney who also came out. Its not a secret that many other sports figures have been rumored to be gay. It dates back to the days of Magic Johnson and Dennis Rodman, but no doubt before even then. Today athletes like Colin Kaepernick and Aaron Rodgers are caught up in a cloud of gay rumors with both men choosing to ignore it. It looks like Jason Collins who is still unsigned, set off a domino effect.
He recounted telling his teammates at Missouri at a preseason practice. "I looked in their eyes, and they just started shaking their heads — like, finally, he came out," he told The New York Times.
The 6-foot-2, 260-pound senior was the defensive player of the year in the Southeastern Conference, widely regarded as the top league in college football. He is projected to be a high draft pick in May's NFL draft.
