Is Apple About to Buy Beats Electronics (Beats by Dre) For $3.2 Billion?

The tech industry is confused and buzzing about a possible acquisition of Beats Electronics by Apple Inc for $3.2 billion. The confusion settles around the question of why would Apple buy Beats. Is their something more to Beats Electronics that Apple wants/needs?  If a deal does happen, will this make beats co-founder Andre "Dr. Dre" Young the first hip hop billionaire?

The purchase of Beats, which also runs a streaming music service, would be Apple's largest ever acquisition, the newspaper reported. It said the deal could be announced as early as next week.  Apple-watchers have speculated that the company that upended the music industry - and today is the single largest seller of tunes - was contemplating a Spotify-like on-demand music service to go with its recently launched iRadio service and iTunes store.
