The Iranian Threat And America's History of Regime Change

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
STUNNED BY NELSON
America is known for aiding it's future enemies to power via extensive covert operations tailored for specific situations. America has been involved in and assisted in the overthrow of foreign governments (more recently termed regime change) without the overt use of U.S. military force. Many of the governments targeted by the U.S. have been democratically elected, rather than authoritarian governments or military dictatorships. In many cases, the governments toppled were replaced by dictatorships, sometimes installed with assistance by the U.S.

Take for example Iran. In 1953, the CIA worked with the United Kingdom to overthrow the democratically elected government of Iran led by Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh who had attempted to nationalize Iran's petroleum industry. Britain was so worried about this plan, that it begged the U.S. to launch a joint operation to overthrow Mossadegh and install a regime that was more controllable. America has played a hand (covertly) in the fall of many governments around the world or so it is believed. In 2004 the insurgency against the government of Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was allegedly supported by the United States. President Aristide claims he was physically removed from the country by U.S. agents against his wishes.

President Obama has kept all options on the table regarding Iran
America has always kept a list of those nations and it's leaders they deemed a threat to the security of America, its interests abroad and its allies. During the Bush admin, President George W. Bush made it clear to the American public and the world, who was at the top of his list. It was Iraq, Iran and North Korea who he said constituted an "Axis of evil" and must be stopped. Iraq was first on his list, and combat in that country just ended a month ago. Iran and North Korea still remains untouched. Under the current admin of President Barack Obama, North Korea has been watched closely but left to stew in its own self imposed imprisonment from the rest of the modern world. Iran on the other hand, depending who you ask, has been turning the volume up on its "We dare you" rhetoric towards the West as it continues to build nuclear facilities for what it says is for power generating purposes. But America or its close allies are not buying it. In fact some say with Osama Bin Laden  who is now at the bottom of the vast ocean and al qaeda diluted around the world, Iran is America's biggest threat today. Fronted by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Iran has thrown out threats against everyone questioning its nuclear program including America and most notably Israel, which President Ahmadinejad has personally said he wants to wipe off the face of the earth.

This image is believed to be that of a young Ahmadinejad
Ahmadinejad is believed to have played a roll  in the Iran hostage crisis based on accounts from U.S.hostages who recognized him and remember seeing him during their capture. However a CIA investigation cleared Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of this and the issue was put to rest. However some believe the U.S. government put it to rest to not spook Ahmadinejad and pushing him behind a deeper security wall.
Today the drum beat has been slowly picking up pace for confronting Iran and its threats. President Obama has called Iran an unstable nation and has secretly continued a covert war against the country. Over the past few years Iran has lost 3 of its top nuclear scientists to questionable events.

Most recently:
Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan was killed in a brazen daylight assassination Wednesday when two assailants on a motorcycle attached a magnetic bomb to his car in the Iranian capital. The killing bore a strong resemblance to earlier killings of scientists working on the Iranian nuclear program, and has prompted calls in Iran for retaliation against those deemed responsible.
Iran pinned this recent assassination and the others before it on the CIA and accused them for waging a secret war within their borders but has stopped short of publicly promising retaliation. Is America turning up the heat on Iran, and is 2012 the year, America will finally take a run at regime change in that country sans military action? The recent protests against the government is said to have been financed and backed by the U.S. but no one is able to prove it. If President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is indeed considered to be America's biggest threat, then history shows that, it is only a matter of time before he meets his maker and that maker will probably be American born or made.
