Back in the early 90's if you weren't drinking a 40oz bottle of malt liquor you weren't "down". nearly every rap song had rappers talking about their favorite 40oz malt liquor which was the very popular St. Ides. The brew was made super popular due to its high profile endorsement deals with some of the biggest rappers during that era like Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, Tupac, Wu-Tang Clan and others. There were a bunch of other popular 40oz as well like Colt 45 and Old English. But nothing said cool like St. Ides. The 40oz fad dwindled during the late 90's and throughout the 2000s but now seems poised for a major mainstream comeback along with other 90's trends like flat top hair cuts, gold rope chains, multi finger rings and classic Reeboks to name a few. The 40oz is already being prominently displayed in new videos and twitter photo feeds from artists like Miguel and others. There are also individuals with impressive 40oz collections worthy of the museum treatment. So its only a matter of time before we start seeing commercials again for 40oz brewskies, at least on the web. Here are some of the St. Ides commercial that ruled the airwaves back in the early 90s.
Here is an almost complete list of all the St. Ides commercials video/audio during the St.Ides reign.
