What will happen if and when DOMA is stuck down by the supreme court? Other than gay couples finally getting their due rights, some fear it may cause a wave of crimes against same sex couples by individuals associated with extreme religious groups. In the meantime, the Supreme court still has tons of questions.
A majority of Supreme Court justices on Wednesday morning appeared
skeptical of the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act
(DOMA), which defines marriage for federal purposes as between a man and
a woman. Whether the justices believe they have the power to make any
decision in this case, however, remained murky.
