Wu-Tang Clan Gets The Museum Treatment
STUNNED BY DRE:
Back in the day, the forgotten borough Staten Island was like the ugly step sister of New York City. Then it gave birth to artists like The Wu Tang Clan and was placed on the map thanks to their classic debut album "Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers". Now Staten Island is putting history on display at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center where it will display memorabilia from the Wu Tang Clan as well as Staten Island's other big name music acts, The New York Dolls and Living Color.

"A lot of people don't know about how many musicians came from here, perform here, and still live here today," said Lynn Kelly, Snug Harbor's president and CEO. "If you grew up here you might know. Now I want the world to know these are things we should be celebrating."source: DNAinfo

Rico The Zombie: Tats, Life and Fame!
STUNNED BY DRE:
Rick Genest -aka- Rico the zombie is a walking piece of art. But like every piece of art there is a story behind him and how he came to be Rico the Zombie. In this video the man gets personal, sharing bits on his battle for life against a brain tumor and how people didn't know how to process his appearance. Now thanks to numerous cameos in music videos, print ads, magazines and other media, Rico is enjoying fame and remains as humble as they come. German photographer Nadine Elfenbein got up close and personal with Genest exposing the normal man underneath all that impressive ink.

Kid Balmain: Olivier Rousteing
STUNNED BY DRE
Meet 26 yr old Olivier Rousteing, a French born African who was named creative director at legendary fashion house Balmain back in April of 2011 . Rousteing took over the top creative job at Balmain after mentor Christophe Decarnin stepped aside for health reasons. Rousteing, a veteran of Roberto Cavalli under Peter Dundas and Balmain under Decarnin, managed to remain unseen for the most part and was very involved in the design background. When it was announced back in spring 2011 that Balmain picked him to lead their creative force, the fashion world naturally went into buzz mania asking who was the handsome young guy taking over and searched endlessly for photos of him. The only photo anyone was able to find seemed to be the one issued by Balmain of Mr. Rousteing in black and white. Fast forward almost a year after taking over, and one can find a few more pictures of the model looking young designer, due to his debut as Balmain's designer showcasing the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. He's being embraced by the who is who in fashion and he is also making plans to take a trip to Vegas (if he hasn't already at the time of this posting). He said he's never been.
On what he saw when he arrived at Balmain:

When I arrived, I loved the rock ‘n’ roll sex appeal that was in the house, [and] I loved to work with Christophe, obviously. But what I learned from this house is that there is a real DNA, something from the past that I want to bring back. I want to bring the couture feeling that I tried to during the summer [for Spring 2011].
On his goal for the label:
I want to go to something more timeless. Something that goes for the future. What I love from the old French house, it’s not seasonal. It’s something that stays. That’s my goal for Balmain. Keeping the sexiness but a bit dressier. For a woman who’s more chic, [to] expand from the woman who was before.Forbes says he's a name you need to know.We couldn't agree more. Here are some more images of the beautiful Olivier below as well as a video clip of his Spring Summer 2012 collection on stage:

Rock Art

| One of many images of Rock Legends featured in the Exhibit |
Some rock legends are rolling into the Allentown Art Museum. Legends like Tina Turner, The Beatles, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan Elvis and many more will be part of a new exhibit dubbed "Who Shot Rock & Roll" organized by guest curator Gail Buckland for the Brooklyn Museum.
The exhibition sprawls through three galleries on the museum's second floor, so it requires time and stamina to cover fully. Buckland has organized it in six thematic sections: career beginnings; performance; crowds and fans; portraits; intimate "behind-the-scenes" pictures; and album covers/conceptual images.[Philly.com]

Rihanna Drops Loot On A Blingy Marilyn Monroe Portrait
Who would've thought that Marilyn Monroe Is singer Rihanna's idol? Anyway the singer loves her idol so much that she had a blinding portrait created out of 65,000 Swarovski crystals and she is very proud of it.
“I tried to show the glitter of the public life and the sadness in Marilyn’s eyes,” said the artist of her new work. “Because of who Rihanna is everything had to be done through her interior decorators. But they told me afterwards she loved it. A 100 per cent Swarovski crystal portrait is very luxurious – people stand and stare because it constantly changes colours, sending rainbows around the rooms.”[Minuted15]
