On Monday some of the recording industry's brightest stars desended on a recording studio in Los Angeles California to re-record an iconic record made 25 years go in an effort to raise money for Haiti. "We are the World" was re-recorded on Monday with almost all new voices, some of which weren't even born when the original recording was released. The remake has generated a  lot of buzz among the artists involved but not all were happy about the new recording. There were artist who felt that the song should have remained untouched and re-released if needs be. We guess it is now safe to say that, artists like Beyonce, Jay Z, Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige, Fantasia, Madonna and others who were noticeably absent were against the song being re-made. We Are the World 25

We have always wondered when, if at all would "We are the world" be ressurected, and finally it is happening. A new line up of major artists will voice the new recording and will be directed by none other than Mr. Quincy Jones.

After checking with lots of stars, and accepting calls from “just about everyone,” Quincy Jones and AEG Live’s Randy Phillips are putting the finishing touches on the big recording session. Among the names I’ve heard so far: Elton John, Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Gladys Knight, and possibly Aretha Franklin will join a huge number of younger stars. Some of the stars from Quincy Jones’s upcoming album, “Soul Bossa Nostra,” may join in as well. They would include Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Akon, Bebe Winans, Usher, Robin Thicke, LL Cool J, and Tevin Campbell.
