Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Peformance, Just Full of Extreme Outfits and Antics to Distract from Her Wilder Pretensions According to Jim Farber

Apparently Lady Gaga performed at the Monster Ball shoe at Radio City Music Hall and Jim Farber of the New York Daily News, was not too amused:
If Wednesday night's show didn't quite idealize either role, it did offer just enough silly visuals and beat-driven sounds to entertain - and to forgive the star's wilder pretensions. For most of the night, Gaga and her 10 dancers appeared inside a gigantic picture frame. (It's art, get it?)
He says her music is far from the cutting edge club sound and it screams the 80's. Here is the issue we have with a guy like Jim Farber critiquing an artist like Lady Gaga in these times. Farber is old school. He wrote for Rolling Stone magazine back in the 70s and 80s (get our point). So we ask, is it fare for someone like Farber to be critiquing an artist who doesn't make music for his age group? That would simply mean he doesn't get it right?
