Many would agree that some of what is called hip hop today, isn't hip hop. Of course the genre has evolved, but at the same time some would agree that it has been diluted as well. Saturated with characters and overly gimmicky raps, it forced respected MCs like Nas to declare that hip hop is dead. We remember a time when hip hop was more exciting and disciplined. There were crews like, the Hit Squad, Wu-Tang Clan, DITC, BDP and many more. The crews today are different. Its not about comradery. Every man is looking out for self. The 90s for us was the best. Artists like KRS-1, EPMD, Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, Chubb Rock, Kool G Rap and Slick Rick among many others, gave us hit after hit and kept parties and the back of Jeep Wranglers bouncing.
